Visa application – Pilot online project (implementation update)
Summary
Starting from 1 March 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Immigration Department (“HCMC ID”) expects to accept online business visa application for company’s business travelers, online working visa for foreign employees working long-term in Vietnam and online dependent visa application for expatriate’s family members. Manual paper submission will only be accepted under very limited circumstances. It is now essential that companies/employers obtain an online account for entry visa applications for their travelers, expatriate employees and their family members. See below for full details.
The Details
Following our last month’s News Alert on the HCMC ID’s pilot project on online visa application for company’s frequent business travelers, it is now essential that companies/employers obtain an online account for the online visa application for their travelers, expatriate employees and family members. We understand that starting from 1 March 2023, the HCMC ID expects their entry visa application to go fully electronic. They will only consider manual paper submission under very limited circumstances, and approval will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
To minimise delay of business travel or travel schedule of expatriate’s family members, company/employer, who is the visa sponsoring entity, should register and obtain an e-signature token as soon as possible to proceed with the entry visa application. Note that certain supporting documents are
required for the registration.
