Türkiye introduces Digital Nomad Visa for Remote Employees

Summary

The tourism Promotion and Development Agency of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that the Turkish digital nomad visa is available to nationals from a select list of countries, including:
Austria Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Following are the eligibility criteria:

  • To have a travel document/passport valid for at least 6 months as from the date of arrival in Türkiye
  • Diploma or Certification of Degree document showing that the applicant is a university graduate.
  • Document showing that the applicant works in the Digital Nomad field.
  • Contract, if applicant working within the company (except companies located in Türkiye)
  • If applicant is self-employed, the business contract between applicant and the company (except companies located in Türkiye)
  • Biometric photo
  • Document proving that the applicant has a monthly income of 3,000 USD or 36,000 USD annually.

Nomad Visa Application Process from Abroad

  • Applicant is required to sign up to the online platform and upload the required documents.
  • If the documents are sufficient, Digital Nomad Identification Certificate will be issued to the applicant.
  • Then, applicants can contact the Turkish Consulates and Embassies for the issuance of the Digital Nomad Visa

Nomad Visa Application Process within Turkey Abroad

  • If the applicant is already in Türkiye, they can apply directly to the units of The Presidency of Migration Management under the Ministry of Interior after obtaining the Digital Nomad Identification Certificate
  • To facilitate the promotion and transition process, digital nomad visa and preliminary application document issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will not be required for residence permit applications made by foreigners who are currently in our country with a visa / visa exemption / residence permit until 01 October 2024.
  • If an application for a residence permit for tourism purposes is made at e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr until the specified date, the necessary evaluation will be made by the Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management.
