The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has announced that starting from 1 April 2025, they will be using an updated version of the income statistics for non-EU nationals applying for work permit applications.
The new data may differ from the current version, affecting whether an offered salary meets Danish standards. Companies should review the updated statistics to ensure their salary offerings align with the salary requirement to avoid potential delays or refusals in the application process.
Background
To be granted a residence and work permit in Denmark, it is among other requirements a condition that the offered salary correspond to Danish standards. This means that a non-EU national who applies for a residence and work permit must receive a salary that corresponds to the standards within the respective professional field in Denmark.
The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) uses the income statistics of the Danish Employers’ Association (DA) in its case processing to assess whether an offered salary is ordinary in accordance with Danish standards.
The applicant’s offered salary must as a minimum correspond to the lower quartile for the job function (DISCO code) and equivalent to the years of work experience reflected in the DA’s income statistics for the region in which the applicant is going to work.
The salary statistics get updated every quarter. SIRI will be using an updated version of the newest salary statistics with information from the fourth quarter of 2024 for all applications submitted from 1 April 2025.
This update is significant for all companies hiring non-EU nationals, as the new salary data may impact whether an application for a work permit is approved.
Employers must ensure they are offering salaries that align with Danish standards to avoid delays or refusal in the application process. Therefore, we recommend taking the following actions:
