Summary

Resolution 9316 of 2024, effective as of September 27, 2024, introduces changes to the deadlines for transferring resident visas and updates requirements for certain Visitor – V Visas.

The detail

The Resolution 9316 of 2024 establishes:

1. The deadline for transferring resident visas issued before October 22, 2022, has been extended. Visa holders now have until October 31, 2026, to complete the transfer. Previously, the deadline for this process was set for October 22, 2024.
2. Holders of the following Visitor V Visas are no longer required to register their visa and apply for an alien D card, irrespective of the visa´s validity:
   1. Visitor V – Tourism.
   2. Visitor V – Business.
   3. Visitor V – Crew members.
   4. Visitor V – Events.

Actions

Resident visa holders issued before October 22, 2022, should be informed of the new extended deadline and ensure the transfer is completed by October 31, 2026.

Visa V visa holders in the categories mentioned above can be advised that they are exempt from registering their visa and applying for an alien ID card, eliminating an administrative requirement.
