Summary
This morning, January 12, 2024, USCIS released an update aimed at increasing ease and efficiency of the upcoming FY2025 H-1B cap season. The update also aims to reduce errors and duplicate lottery entries.
The detail
USCIS expects to launch online organizational accounts beginning in February 2024. These accounts will be for use in both cap-exempt and cap-subject H-1B filings, and will digitize the entire process from beginning to end. While the H 1B cap lottery registration has taken place electronically since 2020, the subsequent Form I-129 and Form I-907 still required paper filings. The organizational accounts will be accessible to multiple individuals, including internal team members and outside legal counsel.
Shortly after these organizational accounts are rolled out, USCIS plans to begin accepting online filing of Form I-129 and Form I-907 for premium processing requests. USCIS will still allow paper filing of the forms if preferred, but will update the filing addresses to lockbox facilities to encourage efficiency. Lottery registrations will remain online only.
On January 23 and 24, USCIS will host national engagements as an opportunity for education and questions on the new organizational accounts. The events should appear here: https://www.uscis.gov/outreach/upcoming-national-engagements once finalized.
What this means

As this is a new system, we can expect there may be technical issues that we will need to address as they arise. However, we remain hopeful this is a positive update that will ultimately lead to more efficient and accurate processing.
