Under Lex Ukraine VII, temporary protection automatically expires if a person is registered for more than 90 days at the Ministry of the Interior’s address.

The detail

Under Lex Ukraine VII, Temporary Protection is automatically terminated if a person is registered for more than 90 days at the address of the Ministry of the Interior. This often occurs without the individual’s knowledge, typically due to incorrect address registration, inaccurate landlord declaration, residency checks conducted by the Foreigners Police.

Once TP status is lost, the individual no longer has free access to the labor market. As a result, employers may unintentionally engage in illegal employment if this change goes unnoticed.

What to do now?

• For temporary protection holders: regularly verify your registered address via the Citizen Portal and monitor your Foreigners Information Portal email.
• For employers: request a signed confirmation from employees every 90 days that they have checked their data and notifications.
