Effective April 15, 2026, all foreigners and overseas Vietnamese must submit a pre-arrival declaration when entering Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City. This is currently a pilot program and will be implemented at other immigration checkpoints in the future.
At least 3 days before arrival in Vietnam, all foreigners (including temporary residence card holders) and Vietnamese nationals residing overseas (including visa and visa exemption holders) must submit pre-arrival information if entering via Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Vietnamese passport holders and transit passengers are exempt.
Pre-arrival declaration steps:
Declarations can also be completed on arrival via QR codes or kiosks, but delays may occur during busy periods.
This requirement is currently being piloted at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and is expected to be rolled out to other immigration checkpoints over time.
This initiative forms part of the Government’s broader efforts to streamline public services and accelerate the digitisation of administrative procedures. It is expected to help ease congestion at immigration checkpoints, shorten processing times, and enhance the overall efficiency and travel experience for passengers.
