Immigration

Vietnam | Health declaration required at border gates from 1 July 2026

Summary

From 1 July 2026, individuals entering, exiting, or transiting through Vietnam’s border gates must submit a health declaration under Decree No. 165/2026/NĐ-CP issued by the Government on 15 May 2026.

The detail

Decree 165 requires all individuals entering, exiting, or transiting through Vietnam to submit a health declaration as part of the country’s health quarantine framework.

The health declaration may be submitted electronically or in paper form using the form issued by the Ministry of Health. It must be completed within seven days before entry, exit, or transit through Vietnam’s border gates and requires personal details, transport information, travel history, and disclosure of relevant symptoms.

Depending on the public health situation, travelers may also be required to provide proof of vaccination or evidence of other preventive measures.

What this means

  • Travelers and businesses should ensure this requirement is factored into travel planning for arrivals, departures, and transit through Vietnam.
  • Failure to complete the declaration may result in delays at immigration or health screening checkpoints.
  • Further implementation guidance, including the electronic submission process, may be issued by the relevant authorities.

Vialto will continue to monitor developments and provide further updates as implementation details become available.
