UAE | New Entry Permit for GCC Residents

Summary

The UAE Government has introduced a new Entry Permit for GCC Residents who have valid residence in one of the other five GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain), in an aim to streamline procedures and entry to Dubai.

The Detail

This introduction of an Entry Visa for GCC residents was recently announced by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA).

Amongst other criteria that must be fulfilled, residency in another GCC state must be valid for at least one year. The GDRFA has communicated that in case all criteria are met, and there are no restrictions from entering the UAE, the expected timeline to be issued a permit should be no more than 48 hours from the submission of an application.

Applications can be filed directly from the GDRFA-website. Mandatory documents for a complete application include a valid passport, the original residence permit issued by a GCC country, and evidence of the applicant’s profession.

What this means

This new visa route for visit purpose, will enable those nationals, who would usually require a pre-arranged visa to the UAE, the ability to apply for an Entry Permit under a more streamlined and simplified online process provided they meet all criteria.

The introduction of the new Entry Permit is likely to attract many regional visitors which will subsequently stimulate the UAE’s economy and further strengthen the country’s position as a global and regional hub.
