Thailand | Additional supporting documents now required for Non-BOI visa cancellation applications

Summary

Since mid-July 2026, the Thailand Investment and Expat Services Center (TIESC) is now requesting employers to provide additional supporting documents when applying to cancel Non-Immigrant ‘B’ (Business/Work) visas (‘Non-BOI’) visas.

The requested additional documents are:

  • A list of all expatriate employees
  • Digital Work Permit copies for all expatriate employees

The standard visa cancellation documents generally remain unchanged, including the company’s monthly personal income withholding tax return (PND.1) for the current month and a company affidavit issued by the Department of Business Development within the past six months.

The detail

Following a cooperation request from TIESC immigration officers, employers are now asked to provide a list of all expatriate employees and copies of their Digital Work Permits when applying to cancel a Non-BOI visa.

Although these documents were not generally required previously, immigration officers have advised that they should now be included as supporting documents.

The additional documents are intended to help immigration authorities verify expatriate employee records and assess compliance with applicable immigration requirements, including the required foreign-to-Thai employee ratio.

For now, the request appears to reflect an administrative practice adopted by TIESC, rather than a formal change to the published documentary requirements.

What this means for employers

Employers sponsoring expatriate employees in Thailand should factor these additional document requests into the Non-BOI visa cancellation process.

In practice, employers should:

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all expatriate employees in Thailand;
  • Ensure Digital Work Permit copies are readily available for all expatriate employees;
  • Allow additional time to prepare visa cancellation applications; and
  • Review workforce records to confirm they align with immigration compliance requirements, including applicable foreign-to-Thai employee ratio rules.
