Academic Verification Platform Launched

Summary
Saudi Arabia has launched the Qualification Verification Program (QVP), an online platform aimed at verifying the academic qualifications of foreign nationals applying for work visas.

The Detail
Saudi Arabia has introduced the Qualification Verification Program (QVP), an immediate-use online platform designed to validate the academic qualifications of foreign nationals applying for work visas. The program ensures that applicants possess the necessary educational qualifications for their intended occupation before entering the country.

Currently, the QVP platform is mandatory for work visa applicants from 62 countries that do not have a Saudi Cultural Attaché. It also applies to individuals working in industries such as agriculture, aviation, commerce, construction, education, health, and more.

The list of countries without a Saudi Cultural Attaché has not been publicly disclosed by Saudi authorities. Foreign nationals are encouraged to contact their relevant Saudi consular post for detailed information regarding the utilisation of the QVP.

The implementation of the QVP represents a significant step in the work visa application process, aiming to streamline the verification procedure. However, the exact impact of the new system on processing times remains uncertain.

The QVP is expected to gradually expand its coverage to encompass foreign nationals from all countries and industries applying for work visas. It is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Professional Accreditation program, which seeks to regulate the labor market.

It is important to note that despite the introduction of the QVP, all foreign nationals must still legalise their academic qualifications before submitting them as part of their work visa application. This requirement applies to applicants regardless of whether they qualify for the use of the QVP at present.
