Impact on the Romanian non-taxable pension
The Romanian government has approved an increase in the non-taxability pension threshold from 2,000 lei to 3,000 lei, effective from October 1, 2024.
As such, starting with the pension income for the month of October 2024, the monthly non-taxable ceiling provided by the Romanian tax law (Article 101 para. (2) letter a) of Law no. 227/2015 on the Fiscal Code, with subsequent amendments and additions), is 3,000 lei.
The monthly taxable income from pensions is determined by deducting the monthly non-taxable amount of 3,000 lei from the pension income (previously it was 2,000 lei).
