Qatar | Update to the current employment contract registration and authentication process

Summary

The Ministry of Labour has revised the steps involved in the employment contract registration and authentication, with the aim of streamlining and expediting the process.

The Detail

In an effort to enhance and streamline processes in Qatar the Ministry of Labour has recently revised its procedures in relation to the employment contract registration and authentication process. Previously, subsequent to contract generation, a manual hard copy was required to be furnished to the employee for review and physical signatures would be required by both the employer and employee.

The new process allows employees to electronically access and endorse contract particulars by enrolling through the National Authentication system (NAS), a government authentication platform, allowing individuals to validate their signature digitally. NAS is used to authenticate the digital identity of individuals holding a residence permit, facilitating secure access to e-government services. Employers are advised to notify their employees to create an account via the NAS platform using the following link, to be able to validate their signature digitally: www.nas.gov.qa.

What this means

The new digitalized process is anticipated to refine and accelerate the contract authentication process. Nevertheless, employers could experience a delay during the initial deployment of the system if there are implementation challenges which will impact the overall processing times for a work permit/residence permit.

How we can help

We anticipate further amendments to be introduced by the government to existing services which are linked to the overall Immigration process, and it is imperative to stay up to date on these developments. Our team will continue to closely monitor and provide timely guidance on any new updates announced by the government.
