Philippines | New Digital Nomad Visa to support remote work arrangements

Summary

On 25 April 2025 the Philippine government approved the implementation of Executive Order (EO) No. 86 which establishes the framework for a special non-immigrant visa categorized as a Digital Nomad Visa, permitting remote work activities for overseas employers or clients.

The detail

The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) can be issued to non-immigrant foreigners who wish to enter and/or stay in the Philippines for a temporary period of 1 year for the purpose of working remotely using digital technologies, and whose clients or employers are situated outside the Philippines.

To qualify for the Digital Nomad Visa, foreign nationals must:

  1. Be a national of a country that offer DNVs to Filipinos;
  2. Be at least 18 years old;
  3. Show proof of remote work using digital technology;
  4. Have no criminal record and not pose threat to the internal or external security of the Philippines;
  5. Have health insurance valid for the DNV period; and
  6. Not be employed in the Philippines.

What it means

Foreign nationals who are working remotely using digital technology can now consider the Philippines as their next remote work destination. Vialto is closely monitoring the implementation of the Digital Nomad Visa and will issue further updates once the Bureau of Immigration releases the full application process.
